1. Promoter
This promotional competition is organised and conducted by Shield Chemicals (Pty) Ltd (“the Promoter”).
2. Competition Partners
This competition is run in collaboration with The Detailing Academy, who will host and conduct the workshop experience.
3. Eligibility
The competition is open to all persons who:
- Are residents of the Republic of South Africa; and
- Are in possession of a valid South African identity document, passport, or proof of residency.
The following persons are excluded from participation:
- Directors, members, partners, employees, agents, or consultants of the Promoter and The Detailing Academy;
- Their immediate family members, life partners, or business partners;
- Any person directly or indirectly involved in the organisation or administration of the competition.
4. Competition Period
The competition commences on the date of publication of the competition post on Facebook and closes at 23:59 on 24 May 2026.
No late entries will be accepted.
5. Entry Mechanism
To enter the competition, participants must comment on the competition post and include a short motivation explaining why they deserve to win.
Only entries that include a valid motivation will be considered.
6. Entry Conditions
- Multiple entries are permitted, provided each entry is unique and submitted separately.
- Entries must be original and must not infringe on any third-party intellectual property or personality rights.
- The Promoter reserves the right to remove or disqualify any entry deemed offensive, unlawful, or non-compliant.
7. Prize Description
The prize consists of:
- One (1) seat at The Detailing Academy Workshop, taking place on 31 May 2026 in Edenvale, Gauteng; and
- A Shield product pack, to be provided at the workshop.
The prize includes catering provided at the workshop.
The prize excludes:
- Transport to and from the venue;
- Accommodation;
- Any additional personal expenses not expressly included above.
The winner is solely responsible for arranging and funding their own transport to the venue.
8. Winner Selection
The winner will be selected based on the quality and creativity of their motivation. The decision of the promoter is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
9. Winner Notification and Acceptance
- The winner will be notified via direct message on Facebook.
- The winner must respond within 48 (forty-eight) hours of notification.
- The winner will be required to provide valid identification and contact details.
Failure to respond within the stipulated timeframe, or failure to comply with any requirement, will result in disqualification and the selection of an alternate winner.
10. Prize Conditions
- The prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, and not redeemable for cash.
- The prize is valid only for the specified workshop date (31 May 2026) and may not be deferred.
- Should the winner be unable to attend on the specified date, the prize will be forfeited in full.
11. Assumption of Risk and Indemnity
- Participation in the workshop is entirely at the winner’s own risk.
- The winner may be required to sign an indemnity and/or liability waiver prior to attending the workshop.
- By accepting the prize, the winner indemnifies and holds harmless the Promoter, The Detailing Academy, and their respective directors, employees, agents, and contractors against any loss, injury, damage, or claim of any nature arising from participation in the workshop or use of the prize.
12. Publicity and Usage Rights
By entering the competition, participants:
- Grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, and publish submitted content for marketing and promotional purposes;
- Agree that the Promoter may publish the winner’s name and/or likeness, subject to applicable consent requirements.
- Participants may object to such use by written notification to the Promoter.
13. Protection of Personal Information (POPIA)
- All personal information collected in connection with this competition will be processed in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
- Personal information will be used solely for the purposes of administering the competition and awarding the prize.
- The Promoter will take appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard personal information.
- Personal information will not be shared with third parties except where necessary for the administration of the competition (including The Detailing Academy) or where required by law.
- Participants have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of their personal information by contacting the Promoter.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- The Promoter and its partners shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from participation in the competition or acceptance/use of the prize.
- The Promoter is not responsible for any technical failures, including but not limited to network, platform, or system errors that may affect participation.
15. Disqualification
The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any participant who:
- Tampers with the entry process;
- Submits fraudulent or misleading information;
- Acts in violation of these Terms & Conditions or any applicable law.
16. Right to Amend or Cancel
The Promoter reserves the right to amend, suspend, or terminate the competition at any time, without prior notice, due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
17. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
18. Acceptance of Terms
Participation in this competition constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
