I’m pleased to report that, despite Saturday’s racing not going to plan, we still made the most of it and retained our position at the top of Class B. The qualifying session came to a grinding halt thanks to a technical gremlin with the car’s pickup sensor. It started backfiring like it had just downed a tin of baked beans, forcing me to pull in before I could get a decent lap time in. That, of course, meant I had to start at the back of the grid for Heat 1.
Final Instruction from the team Principal… Delmas was Eskimo City with temperatures in the early morning leaning towards 0 degrees.

Qualifying
Getting to know the cameraman a bit better as we watch Qualifying from the sidelines together… this is painful as you see yourself starting further back on the grid as each lap progresses.

Brains Trust – fixing the technical issues
Thanks to Andy Gossman & Gavin Ross we managed to figure out that the pick-up sensor had a poor connection — what a relief, as this meant I could hopefully still come from the back of the pack and hopefully pick up a point or two in the race, which all goes to adding to the points table and overall championship.
Heat 1
Staring at the pack of the grid, I had to ensure that I piloted the green mamba past the back markers in a manner that never created chaos in to the first few corners and then use the power to gain few spots down the straight – this was all going to plan and until the 5th gear decided to call it a day and disintegrated bringing my day to a grinding halt.

Back to the drawing board and to rebuild the gearbox in time for the next event — what can I say, this is racing for you.
